The "Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Strengthening Aging Work in the New Era" makes clear arrangements for improving the health support system for the elderly.
The series of requirements are reflected in the plan issued this time.
Prevention is the most cost-effective and effective health strategy.
The plan proposes to improve health education and health management, develop popular science textbooks on health education for the elderly, and use a variety of media to popularize health knowledge and healthy lifestyles through various activities such as the Elderly Health Publicity Week, so as to improve the health literacy of the elderly.

The plan also clarifies that by 2025, the proportion of general hospitals at or above the second level with geriatric medicine departments will reach more than 60%.
