Now the giant beam is lifted, which 1.5 years ago slid out over the Ume River in connection with the launch of the new bridge being built outside Umeå. This is the first part of the complicated process of getting the bridge ready for traffic after the 2020 accident.
The 1800-tonne beam must be lifted so that the contractor can see and repair the damage that has occurred to the beam itself and the concrete foundations out in the river.
Then a lot of work remains.
The bridge is currently expected to be completed in July 2023.
