Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Byung-hoon posted a poem on his Facebook page expressing the death of Yu Gwan-sun as 'nostalgic crazy X', but after controversy arose, it was later deleted and apologized.

Rep. Lee posted on his SNS, "As of March 1st, Martyr Yu Gwan-sun still seems to be standing waving the Taegeukgi. I am posting a poem in memory of the forefathers who resolutely stood up in protest against Japanese colonial rule." shared

After posting the poem, Rep. Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party supported the will of their ancestors, who became a bright lamp for the nation with patriotism even in the harsh conditions of the Japanese occupation. I will take the lead,” he emphasized.

However, in the poem, there is the expression, "I go crazy X nostalgic. I go sick in the sunlight." In addition to the expression "I miss Crazy X, I go. I go kissing every footstep of this land."

For this reason, the poem was controversial for defamation of the deceased, and the original poet Jeong Ho-seung also officially apologized in 2013, saying, "I have insulted the noble honor and damaged the patriotic spirit of the country."

At the time, in an apology, Poet Jeong said, "I promise that 'Yu Gwan-sun' will not be published permanently in any collection of poems published under Jeong Ho-seung's name in the future. I will do my best," he promised.

People's Power Representative Lee Jun-seok said, "Why did Rep. Lee Byung-hoon circulate a poem about the martyr Yu Gwan-sun, which had a great expression problem, on the Samiljeol?" He urged, "Apologize to the people at the party level."

He pointed out, "The Democratic Party's election strategy is unusual, but I'm not sure what kind of supporter it is appealing to by secondly inflicting a second attack on Ukraine and insulting martyr Yu Gwan-sun."

As the controversy over his post grew, Rep. Lee deleted the original post and wrote, "I apologize for citing an inappropriate poem in a post I posted on the occasion of the March 1st." re-uploaded.

Rep. Lee also explained, "I did not understand the context of the poem. I did not realize that the poet apologized."
