Daily Mail: Putin moved his family to an "underground city" in Siberia in anticipation of a nuclear war

The British newspaper "Daily Mail" quoted Valery Solovy, a Russian political scientist, as saying that in recent days, Russian President Vladimir Putin hid his family members in an "underground city" in Siberia.

The 61-year-old professor said the luxurious, high-tech bunker is located in the Altai Mountains and was designed for protection in the event of a nuclear war.

Solovy was a former professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) - where he taught top diplomats.

Some in Moscow dismiss Solovy as a conspiracy theorist or a con artist, but just last week he was questioned by Russian authorities for seven hours over allegations he made about Putin's medical and mental condition.

His home was also searched and many electronic devices were confiscated. Solovey was later released but the case was not closed.

The claim comes as Russia bombed Kyiv and Kharkiv with missile strikes, leading to accusations of war crimes by Putin by deploying devastating cluster bombs on defenseless civilians.

“At the end of the week, President Putin’s family was evacuated to a special bunker that was prepared in case of nuclear war,” the professor said in a video clip. “This bunker is located in the “mountainous” Altai Republic. In fact, it is not a bunker, but a completely underground city, It is equipped with the latest science and technology.

Solovy, who claims to have internal connections in the Kremlin, is believed to refer to a sprawling mountainous country house ostensibly built by energy giant Gazprom about a decade ago in an area in the Altai Republic, a region of Siberia that borders Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan.
