The social services helped Anna, who is actually called something else, with sheltered housing after she left her violent relationship.

The housing solution was temporary and after a while Anna started looking for a more permanent home.

But the search was without success and the list of housing queues she received from the social services led nowhere.

- You can not get an apartment at once, so it does not work.

But I wish they would look more at reality and what a permanent home would mean for me and my children.

Council: "Wait until something worse happens"

In order to gain priority in the housing queue, the threat picture must be assessed as sufficiently serious by the police and the social services.

Often some kind of outreach violence is required.

Anna's priority application was never considered.

She tells SVT that the staff advised her to instead wait until something more serious happened to her because it would increase the chance of priority.

- The problem is that you turn to the housing agency only after you have recovered from the violence, says Anna.
