It is an essential passage for all politicians, and in particular candidates for the presidential election: the Agricultural Show.

But while the war in Ukraine completely upsets the campaign, this time the candidates compete in proposals to try to be heard.

Even if their schedules are upset by the war in Ukraine, most of the candidates for the presidential election rush to the Salon de l'agriculture Porte de Versailles in Paris.

During their visit on Monday, Valérie Pécresse, Anne Hidalgo and Fabien Roussel competed with proposals to preserve the agricultural sector from the consequences of the conflict.

A unique sounding board

A visit at a run for Fabien Roussel, who poses as a great promoter of French gastronomy, and exchanges with farmers centered on the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

"When we see the rise in prices that this war can cause in our country, I ask for a conference with the whole of the cereal sector", he launched.

A little further down the aisles, Anne Hidalgo for her part called for playing on VAT to contain energy prices.

“It is urgent that there is an anticipation of these price developments, particularly of energy, with a blockage to allow this war to be overcome,” assured the PS candidate.

Valérie Pécresse, also present at the show, also explained that she wanted to tackle this soaring price.

"What I want is for the European Union to put in place a shield today to protect our farmers", explains candidate LR.

In a sequence marked by the omnipresence of Emmanuel Macron and 40 days from the first round, the candidates all hope to be heard and benefit from the unique sounding board that is the Agricultural Show.
