"The Federal Council also decided to partially suspend the 2009 visa facilitation agreement for Russian citizens," the Federal Council said in a statement.
It is noted that holders of diplomatic passports will continue to be allowed visa-free entry into the country.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Justice and the police of Switzerland, Karina Keller-Sutter, announced that five "Russian oligarchs" were banned from entering the state.
