The latest UN census states that more than half a million Ukrainian refugees fleeing the invasion of their country by Russia have flown into neighboring countries since the start of hostilities.

Among these, Oksana and her children have just crossed the Polish border…

“We are coming from Lviv (50 kilometers from Poland) but the road was hard, it was long!

We haven't slept for two days and before that, we also had a difficult day, ”says the young mother.

And to the ordeal of the journey is added the pain of having left his relatives: “My husband stayed in Lviv, and my parents too because they didn't want to abandon my brother, who is stuck in Kiev”.

“A difficult situation to accept”

Exhausted but relieved to have brought her children to safety, Oksana also says she is very grateful to her Polish neighbours: “We have traveled a lot so I have been here before, but I am amazed by the warm welcome given to us!

".

And if she does not know what her future will be made of, she hopes “that all this ends soon, because it is really difficult to accept.

".
