Every four years, several thousand students volunteer to create the Lund Carnival.

But before the spectacle can really start, a call is required to gather all future carnivalists.

- The Lund Carnival is one of the biggest parties in Lund and you want to be a part of it.

That is why we are here, says Anton Miolin, who, like Marcus Gullberg, has been queuing for almost two days.

"You just have to be a part of this"

The queue outside the AF castle stretched from the entrance, past the Cathedral, away to Mårtenstorget and all the way along the Esplanade down to Stadsparken.

Students from all over Skåne sat sick in brass chairs and soaked up the sun after an almost sleepless night.

- We are quite tired but tagged, it's such a big spectacle, you just have to be a part of this, says Maja Sterner who has been queuing with her friends for 15 hours.

over 8,000 pre-registered

In the afternoon, it was still full of people waiting to enter the castle.

- Just over an hour ago, we had 4,100 who registered here, and there are probably about 2,000-3,000 people still in the queue.

The best figure we have for how many people want to join is the approximately 8,100 who have pre-registered in the app, says Linnea Söderström, press and sponsorship manager.

The theme for this year's carnival is Catastrophe Carnival, despite the name, the start seems to have been almost flawless.
