The Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korea conducted an important test for the development of a reconnaissance satellite yesterday (27th).

The explanation is that the National Space Agency and the National Defense Science Institute proceeded according to the reconnaissance satellite process plan.

North Korea emphasized that in this test, vertical and oblique imaging of a specific area on the ground was carried out with the imaging equipment to be mounted on the reconnaissance satellite.

He said that he confirmed the characteristics and operation accuracy of the high-resolution imaging system, data transmission system, and posture control system.

North Korea presented the operation of a military reconnaissance satellite as one of the strategic goals for the development of the defense industry at the party conference in January last year, and it seems that it is taking steps to achieve this.

North Korea has been claiming the right to use space peacefully over the launch of a satellite, but the international community is de facto judging it as part of the development of the intercontinental ballistic missile icbm.

The fact that North Korea took out the satellite development card is also interpreted as an intention to increase negotiating power by pressing the US, which is not in a recession due to the Ukraine crisis.

North Korea's launch yesterday marks 28 days since the launch of the medium-range Hwasong-12 on the 30th of last month, and the 8th armed protest this year.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said yesterday that the missile was detected at a maximum altitude of 620 km and a flight range of 300 km.
