North Korea conducted an important test for the development of a reconnaissance satellite yesterday, the Korean Central News Agency reported.

The explanation is that the National Space Agency and the National Defense Science Institute proceeded according to the reconnaissance satellite process plan.

North Korea emphasized that in this test, vertical and oblique imaging of a specific area on the ground was carried out with the imaging equipment to be mounted on the reconnaissance satellite.

He said that he confirmed the characteristics and operation accuracy of the high-resolution imaging system, data transmission system, and posture control system.

North Korea presented the operation of a military reconnaissance satellite as one of its strategic goals for defense industry development at the party conference in January last year, and it seems that it is taking steps to achieve this.

North Korea has been claiming the right to peaceful use of space over satellite launch, but the international community sees this as a de facto part of the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

The fact that North Korea took out the satellite development card is also interpreted as an intention to increase its negotiating power by putting pressure on the US, which is not doing well due to the Ukraine crisis.

North Korea's launch yesterday marks the 8th armed protest this year, 28 days after the mid-range Hwasong-12 was launched on the 30th of last month.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said it was detected at a maximum altitude of 620 km and a flight distance of 300 km.
