FIFA bans matches in Russia, bans flag and national anthem

FIFA said on Sunday that it will not organize any international matches in Russia and the team will not be allowed to raise the Russian flag or play the national anthem in matches that will be played outside its home under the name of the Russian Football Federation.

On Sunday, the International Football Association (FIFA) imposed on Russia to play its matches under a neutral banner, and to play its home matches outside its rules, after the invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian anthem and flag will be banned from international competitions, according to the International Federation, which reserves the right to take "additional sanctions, including possible exclusion from competitions".

FIFA said that the Russian Federation can participate in any tournament under the name "Russian Football Federation" and not "Russia"


and added that Russia's matches "at home" will be played at neutral stadiums and without fans.
