Woman was bitten by a viper at work in Umeå

It was last summer that the accident occurred in Umeå municipality.

The woman was at the home of a patient to help with cleaning.

When she sat down at the kitchen table, she suddenly felt an intense pain at the ankle.

"It burns and hurts so I look down at my foot.

It's then a red swelling and I do not understand what happened.

Then my colleague comes in and says that there was a viper just below the bridge, ”

The snake had been in the TV room

The user had also encountered the adder on an earlier occasion - inside the TV room.

The pain and tenderness continued and soon the bitten woman was forced to finish her work shift and go to the emergency room.

It was confirmed that the pain was caused by a snake bite.

 - It is not something that happens every day, I was very surprised when she told me, says the boss.

Together they started calling around to get advice about the situation.

- It was a little difficult to know where to turn or what to do.

We were told that vipers were protected so we had to do a risk analysis and start an investigation.

"A dramatic event"

 Today the woman is well and can even laugh a little at the event:

- It was a dramatic event and the snake that was on the bridge was big.

I felt it hurt a lot and when I saw the two dots I understood that it must be a snake bite.

Now I am extra vigilant to look for snakes on the ground, she says.
