The UAE has sent a plane carrying 35 tons of food to Mekele, in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, in the context of supporting the humanitarian situation.

Mohammed Salem Al Rashidi, UAE Ambassador to Ethiopia, explained that these food supplies come within the framework of the directives of the country's rational leadership to support the humanitarian situation in the Tigray region, stressing the UAE's commitment to a humanitarian approach that supports emergency relief in countries that need it.

His Excellency added, "The UAE is keen to support the humanitarian situation in the Tigray region, and to provide the necessary needs for the population due to their suffering from food shortages," noting that this shipment comes in commitment to the UAE's humanitarian approach, which does not hesitate to provide emergency relief to countries and peoples in need. to her".

It is worth noting that the UAE sent 6 planes carrying 300 tons of relief and food items, including 200 tons of vegetable oils, in cooperation with the World Food Program, to the city of Mekele in the Tigray region last year, in addition to sending 18.5 tons of medical supplies as part of global efforts to address to the COVID-19 pandemic.
