• Ballet Tamara Rojo denies having plugged in her boyfriend, after the accusations of several dancers

  • Dance Tamara Rojo: "Duato in Spain did a very limited job"

Theirs is a love

danced

on the stages and consolidated outside of them.

Tamara Rojo, considered the "best dancer of her generation" by

The New York Times

, and Isaac Hernández, one of the best talents in current international ballet, crossed paths three years ago for a performance of

Swan Lake

, and , since then they have united their lives and their professional careers.

With his toes on,

he is the principal dancer with the English National Ballet,

of which she has been artistic director for a decade.

Without them

, Tamara, 47, and Isaac, 31, are the parents of Mateo,

a 10-month-old boy whose mother fears she will develop an American accent when

they move to the United States later this year to

lead the San Francisco Ballet.

Before his life with Tamara, Isaac Hernández had already made the leap to Europe as

the best Mexican talent in recent years.

He bought a house in Amsterdam, where he danced for the Dutch National Ballet, and when Tamara invited him to participate in Swan Lake, he accepted with the only condition that he did not have to join the English National Ballet.

"I told them that I would never join them. I was happy in Amsterdam, but I agreed to go on tour," he says in an interview for The Times in which he explains that he did not know he was going to dance with Tamara Rojo.

"She was so intimidating, she was the best dancer I had ever heard of. I couldn't believe it was her...I told her she had to bear with me."

After a first performance together, something changed between them: "I got off the stage and told Tamara: 'I feel like I've gone to the next level. Now I know what it's like to feel free dancing, what it's like to be in the present moment'

From that moment I went crazy from the feeling.

"

For dancing with her.

For being around her.

And that London was never an option for him: "It was not an easy decision. I never had any intention of staying. Before arriving I had already danced in Paris, Moscow and Amsterdam. My friends even gave me a book called

100 Things To Do If You hate London

because

this city really doesn't make me happy.

It takes too long to get to places, and that's something I notice especially now that I'm a father and I can't wait to be with my son as soon as possible."

Still, even the bitterest cities are sweeter with love.

"I love the world of culture that London has. In my country all culture comes from the Government and

here you can breathe a much healthier environment.

It has brought me very close to Tamara, we share the same passions", explains the young dancer, who has had to deal with accusations of plugging in and the suspicions aroused by having a romantic relationship with his boss who is 16 years older than him.

"It was a very difficult time for us, but we knew how to stick together.

We never hid our relationship. We could have looked each for ourselves, but we decided that it was best to be united because we had not done anything wrong. At work I am an employee and I totally understand that. I admire Tamara for her work and what she has done at the English National Ballet, and that is why I recognize her as my boss. Now that she is leaving I think there are going to be a lot of people who are going to try to fill her position, because what he has done here has been impressive," he admits.

And is not for less.

During her 10 years at the helm of the ENB, Tamara Rojo has opened the doors to female composers, so that works written by women are now part of the regular program each season.

"When I came to the English National Ballet

I had not performed a single work by a woman.

My role as director had the responsibility of giving opportunities to people of different cultures, religions, social classes and, of course, genders. Today, almost no company in the world would program its season without there being at least one piece of a woman, this was not so normal before," she analyzed in a recent interview with EL MUNDO.
