The adoption of a resolution condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine by the United Nations Security Council has failed.

On the 25th local time, Russia, a permanent member of the United States, exercised its veto right against the resolution proposed at the emergency meeting of the Security Council held at the UN headquarters in New York, USA, and the adoption of the resolution was canceled.

The resolution, led by the United States, calls for an immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of troops from Ukraine along with condemnation of Russia.

However, there was virtually no possibility from the outset that the resolution would be adopted because Russia, which is a party, is a permanent member of the veto right.

Eleven of the members of the Security Council voted in favor, but Russia, which is also a party, opposed it, and three countries abstained from Russia's ally China, India and the United Arab Emirates.
