It was a walker who gave the alert around 8 a.m. this Friday morning.
While walking in rue Henri Monnerais, this passer-by found the lifeless body of a man at the edge of this path which criss-crosses the Saint-Martin meadows.
This natural space of 30 hectares is located north of the city center of Rennes.
Alerted, the firefighters could only note the death of the victim.
No attempt at resuscitation was made, the body being in a "state of rigor mortis".
According to the emergency services, the man was a 38-year-old homeless man.
The reasons for the victim's death are unknown at this time.
It was cold last night in Rennes with temperatures that flirted with 0 degrees.
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the police.
