Out of qualifying, the 28-year-old Czech continues his crazy week after knocking down Djokovic Thursday 6-4, 7-6 (7/4).

A result which will deprive the Serb of his place of world N.1 on Monday in favor of the Russian Daniil Medvedev.

In the semi-finals on Friday, Vesely had to fight more than three hours and play three decisive games to dismiss the Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (7/2), 7-6 (7/3 ).

The seeded N.6 had however broken in the third round, but while he was serving for the match, the Canadian cracked before being embarked on a new decisive game, ultimately fatal.

For his part, Rublev also had to work to overcome the Pole Hubert Hurkacz (N.11 in the world), beaten 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7/5) in 2h23.

The 24-year-old Russian, seventh in the world, will go on to a new final after that of the Marseille tournament, won last weekend.

After his half against Hurkacz, Rublev again pleaded for peace after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Invited to write a message on the camera lens, as is often the case at tennis tournaments, the Russian player wrote "No to war. Please".

"You realize how important it is to have peace in the world, to respect each other no matter what, to be united", had already underlined Rublev on Thursday after his victory in the quarterfinals against the American Mackenzie McDonald.
