During the term of office 2018-2022, the Social Democrat politician Magnus Johansson (S) has been the first name of Vilhelmina Socialdemokraters
council list.
He has also been group leader and vice chairman of the municipal board.
On Thursday, he announced that he is leaving all his assignments in the municipality and within the party from 1 March.
However, he will fulfill his assignment within the City Council for the remainder of the term.

However, he says he no longer sees the party's confidence in continuing the work.
- I must be able to see myself in the mirror and stand up for my values.
Of course I will miss my previous assignments, you get involved for a reason in wanting to be involved and change or improve.
The reason behind the defection
Magnus Johansson has written about the decision on his blog:
Even before Christmas, I was prepared to resign from all my assignments based on "incidents" that took place, but in talks, partly within the party, but also with the nomination committee, it did not happen.
However, this was considered an internal conflict between different parties and not as I believe;
a matter of treatment, trust and confidence in party friends and officials who should be dealt with within the party and its various decision-making bodies. "

Magnus has been a valuable party friend and an important voice in the municipality.
There have been various events and situations that have led to this.
We always have the attitude to trigger things, but we will put extra focus on it now, says Andreas Eliasson (S), chairman of the workers' municipality's board.
With the election year around the corner, it is important to find a new vice chairman.
This will need to be discussed more before a new municipal list for the party can be presented.
