In response to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, Emmanuel Macron announced this Friday that France would accelerate the deployment of soldiers in Estonia and Romania within the framework of NATO.

According to information from Europe 1, France will deploy 200 mountain soldiers in Estonia, and 500 with armored vehicles in Romania.

Emmanuel Macron announced Friday in Brussels that France would accelerate the deployment of soldiers in Romania and Estonia within the framework of NATO, in response to the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army.

"France will continue to fully play its role of reassuring NATO allies by sending a new contingent to Estonia within the enhanced forward presence, anticipating its participation in the policing of the Baltic skies from March, and by also accelerating its deployment in Romania", declared the French president at the end of an exceptional EU summit in Brussels and on the eve of a NATO summit devoted to the crisis in Ukraine.

Four 2.000 mirages in Estonia

According to information from Europe 1, 200 mountain soldiers will thus be deployed in Estonia in the coming days, and 500 French soldiers, with armored vehicles, will be sent to Romania.

Two patrols will be carried out by two hunters in the Poland zone.

Four Mirage 2000s will also be deployed in Estonia.

Emmanuel Macron also said that France was "ready to continue to deliver military and support equipment to the population, as I was able to tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "In the tragic times we are living in, the 'Europe has no choice but to become again, perhaps to become, I dare say, a power,' insisted the head of state.
