• Direct War Ukraine and Russia, last minute

  • Russian attack on Ukraine Europe will respond with the biggest sanctions in its history

The President of the Government has erased his entire agenda with a stroke of the pen.

He has cleared her of appointments to focus exclusively on the Ukraine crisis.

Pedro Sánchez has decided to suspend the celebration of the

Conference of Presidents

scheduled for tomorrow on the island of

La Palma

and whose acts, with the presence of the King, were to begin today;

he will travel to Brussels

this afternoon to

participate in the

extraordinary European Council

convened by

Charles Michel

and, in addition, has registered a request for an urgent appearance in

Congress

to inform parliamentary forces and citizens of the situation unleashed by

Moscow

against

Kiev

as well as the actions that, in response to it, the allies decide to adopt.

Before traveling to the community capital, Sánchez will go to the Zarzuela at 12 noon to participate in the

National Security Council

chaired by Felipe VI and at 1:30 p.m. he has scheduled an institutional statement.

The Spanish Government has "strongly" condemned this very morning the "military invasion" of Ukraine by the Russian Federation and has expressed its "solidarity" with the people and the Ukrainian Executive.

In a statement issued early in the morning,

Moncloa

describes the attack as "completely unjustified aggression" and "unprecedentedly serious" as it represents a "flagrant violation of international law that puts global security and stability at risk."

Spain demands that Vladimir Putin immediately cease hostilities "before the number of victims multiplies" and calls for the return of Moscow's troops to "internationally recognized" Russian territory.

In this way ,

Madrid

urges Putin to withdraw his soldiers from the

Donbas

, the Ukrainian provinces with a pro-Russian majority whose independence Moscow has recognized with annexationist intentions.

The Spanish Government insists on the recognition of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in accordance with international legality and anticipates that the partners of the European Union and the allies of NATO will give a response "adapted to the seriousness of the illegal action" from Moscow.
