Olena Litvishko lives in Ukraine and is the auditor of an international organization that works in various ways with democracy issues.
That is why she came to Sweden a few days ago and is currently in Helsinki.
Then the war broke out.
Now she is stuck in Sweden because the air traffic to Ukraine is canceled.
She is desperate about the situation in her home country.
- When I woke up this morning and heard that Russia had invaded Ukraine, I just cried.
The family in safety
Remaining in Ukraine is Olena Livitshko's family.
- We have contact and so far everything is fine with them.
But of course they are very scared and worried.
She tries to get in touch with a friend in Ukraine but the connection is shaky and the conversation is soon broken.
Hope for peace
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for several years.
But Olena Litvishko has always hoped that war would not end.
Now her worst nightmare has come true.
- But I hope that peace will soon be restored in Ukraine, she says.
