- It was not in my thoughts at all - I thought you get sick, and then you get well, says Maria Olsson.

It was when she was to renew her certificate for sick leave in April that the doctor wrote that she had postcovid.

- Only then did it hit me.

Received rehabilitation at FrykCenter

The problems that Maria had included difficulty breathing and pain in the joints.

With the help of the staff at the Central Hospital in Karlstad, she got in touch with a rehabilitation doctor, who offered her to come to FrykCenter in Torsby.

There she spent two weeks in early September.

- They did different tests and saw that I did not oxygenate myself properly at night, and I got a CPAP.

I also learned other methods that helped me in facilitating everyday life - and that I could not "force" recovery.

After the rehabilitation, she gradually began to return to her work as a teacher, and now works 80 percent.

- I have lost time because I can not work 100 percent.

But I do not want to be on sick leave anymore, says Maria.

Finished the year by putting away iva notes

Maria's 2020 ended at iva on where her condition was critical.

She is very grateful to the staff at iva, who on New Year's Eve granted that her husband Mats would be allowed to visit.

- I think that visit was the rescue.

Everything was very fuzzy, but I remember when he opens the door and comes in - it was so big.

As 2021 came to an end, Maria also wanted an end to the disease.

The Iva diary written by the medical staff had been lying around all the time, as well as a bundle of paper she herself had written on when she was lying on a respirator and could not speak.

She saved the notes that meant something to her, and put them away in a box.

- Even though I have postcovid, I wanted to put some of the covid - the traumatic - behind me.
