Anadolu Agency said today, Wednesday, that the Turkish Ministry of Justice sent a request to the UAE to detain and deport Sedat Becker, a Turkish "mafia boss" that Interpol issued a red notice for his arrest.

Turkey launched an investigation into Bakr's case last year, and shortly thereafter he began posting videos on YouTube he had filmed in the UAE in which he talks about what he said is "widespread corruption" among senior Turkish officials.

Last year, the Ankara Public Prosecutor issued a decision to arrest the "fugitive mafia leader".

In May 2021, Baker angered Turkey when he posted carefully edited videos on YouTube, in which he accused senior officials and members of their families of rape, murder and drug trafficking, which those concerned denied.

Becker, 49, who is convicted of links with organized crime and who presents himself today as a businessman, especially attacked the current Minister of Interior, Süleyman Soylu.

The Turkish government also denied the accusations made by Baker, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the clips he broadcast, and which were watched by millions in Turkey, as an "attack on the state."

Baker has not published any new videos since June 2021. He confirmed that the UAE authorities warned him of "high security risks" and prevented him from using social networks, and indicated that he had received a warning of the risk of an assassination attempt.

In mid-February, the Turkish president made his first visit to the UAE since 2013, welcoming a "new era" after bilateral relations witnessed tension.
