The Japanese government is considering stepping up sanctions with the United States and other countries if Russia takes further steps over the tense situation in Ukraine, in addition to products using advanced technology. Following Russia's unilateral approval of the independence of some areas in eastern Ukraine, Prime Minister Kishida discussed with Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno and others at the Prime Minister's Office on the 23rd.
