"We have a former French Prime Minister, François Fillon, who knows all the secrets of France, who is today Putin's ally", "the ally of a dictator who is waging war in Europe (.. .) it still poses a problem”, he underlined on LCI.

François Fillon, former Prime Minister of Nicolas Sarkozy (2007-2012), joined the board of directors of the Russian petrochemical giant Sibur in December.

The group is notably controlled by Leonid Mikhelson, one of the richest men in Russia, and Gennady Timchenko, a close associate of President Putin and targeted on Tuesday by sanctions from the United Kingdom in the face of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

Asked if he wanted to ban it, he replied "yes".

"It should just be banned."

"I want to make a law of separation of public interests and private interests", he continued, believing that "a little ethics in politics" was needed.
