- The grandchildren do not want to play in the backyard when the roosters come.

The sound is so creepy.

And you can not leave the car in the driveway, because then it is covered with shit, says Ingrid Broberg who has complained several times about the raw heat.

For some time now, she has wanted the birds to be shot, or the municipality to remove nests or even cut down the trees in which they settle.

- Last year, the municipality replied that the birds do not constitute sufficient damage for something to be done to them, says Ingrid Broberg.

Tested scares and sounds without effect

According to Håkan Berggren, planning engineer in Tomelilla municipality, the municipality is behind bars when it comes to potential solutions.

- Until last year, we had to shoot raw kings between 10 May and 10 June.

But now that hunting season has been taken away.

We have also tried to set up dragon-like scares and used sound, which had no effect, says Håkan Berggren.

According to the hunting ordinance, hunting right holders may hunt randomly all year round if it is done on behalf of the municipality.

At the same time, it rarely happens that the County Administrative Board approves hunting of disturbing birds.

Underlying problems

According to Håkan Bergren, there is an underlying problem: the absence of large trees in the Scanian countryside.

- The rooks are attracted to the village because they do not find any suitable trees to build nests in in the countryside.

In addition, they are drawn to light.

You could try to turn off the street lights in, for example, Folkets park, but then we would receive other types of complaints from the municipality, he says.
