The president of the CMT, Mahamat Idriss Deby, assured two days ago during his first interview on Chadian television, that the pre-dialogue of Doha would start on February 27 and that it will be “inclusive”.

A declaration which comes to put an end to the speculations which circulated in the country, on a possible new postponement or the exclusion of certain rebel leaders, in particular Timan Erdimi, accused of having wanted to ally with the Russian paramilitary group Wagner to drive out Mahamat Idriss Déby .

On the list transmitted by Ndjamena, about sixty rebel movements invited to Doha.

None of those claiming the title of rebel leader has been expelled

," said one of our sources.

Qatar says "no" at first and decides to reduce the list to a dozen armed groups, those who have men on the ground.

Unacceptable

" in the eyes of Chad's Transitional Military Council, which refuses to renounce the "

 inclusive

" nature of its dialogue.

Another subject of friction between the two capitals, the case of Timan Erdimi who has lived in exile in Qatar for twelve years.

Several Chadian officials accused Doha from the start of riding for Erdimi.

And a few days ago, an audio document in which we hear the rebel leader express

his desire to obtain the help of the Russian paramilitary group Wagner

to bring down the junta in power in Chad, leaked in the press.

Race against time

Ndjamena sees red, government spokesman Alderman Koulamallah announces that the rebel leader "

has excluded himself

 " from the pre-dialogue.

Some senior Chadian officials then considered relocating the pre-dialogue to another country.

We are then close to the crash between the two capitals.

Until Wednesday, when the president of the CMT Mahamat Idriss Deby meets a Qatari delegation in Paris.

Since then, things have returned to normal.

But the hardest part remains, getting all the delegations to Doha within the next four days, to meet the February 27 date for the start of the pre-dialogue.

It's a race against time

," explains another of our sources, detailing the tasks that must be carried out to comply with Mahamat Idriss Deby's injunction.

The rebel leaders are scattered in several countries and on several continents, and some of them have not yet received their passports from the authorities, the invitations and the plane tickets planned by Doha have not yet been sent.

Finally, some rebel leaders, such as Mahamat Mahdi Ali, the FACT leader responsible for the death of Idriss Deby Itno in April 2021, are in areas where planes are not easily found.

He is indeed in southern Libya with his fighters.
