The limit for meteorological spring is when the daily average temperature has been above zero degrees for seven days in a row.
- When we have reached seven days, we say that spring has arrived the first of the seven days, says SVT's meteorologist Marcus Sjöstedt.
This means that spring came to Skåne already a week ago.
By meteorological definition, February 15 is the earliest allowed date for spring arrival.
Malmö was without winter
At the same time, parts of southwestern Skåne, including Malmö, Landskrona, Trelleborg and Ystad, never had a meteorological winter.
These parts of Skåne have now gone directly from autumn to spring.
- It is not entirely unusual that you have autumn in Skåne during the whole winter really, and that it never really becomes winter because you do not reach the winter criterion, says Marcus Sjöstedt.
In addition to parts of Skåne, Hoburg on Gotland and northern Öland also had no winter.
The heat can be delayed
But those who are waiting for the real spring heat may have to wait a while longer.
During the next week, there may be some nights where the temperature can drop to the minus side in Skåne.
- So maybe you should wait a bit to put the plants out on the balcony, says Marcus Sjöstedt.
