Tram passengers were warned during the trip this morning.

“Due to a serious accident, the tram will be stopped at the next stop.

The shock took place around 8:30 a.m., a few steps from the Meinau stadium in Strasbourg.

A truck and a tram collided while the train was traveling at around 40 km/h.

The shock was quite violent, as shown by the front of the tram, completely smashed.

"There were a hundred people on board", explains Lieutenant Thomas Glardon, without knowing who is at the origin of the accident.

Would the truck have gone through a red light on the perpendicular street?

The investigation should clarify this element.

Tram traffic disrupted

In the meantime, four people were evacuated to Hautepierre hospital: the two train drivers and two passengers.

“All are slightly injured”, continues the group leader, visibly reassured, after a shock which could have had much more serious consequences.

The truck could be moved and the tram towed using a tractor.

Around 10 a.m., traffic on lines A and E began to return to normal.
