- Gävleborg is a forest county and many have the forest as part of their business to be able to live in the countryside, says Rickard Klingberg who is also chairman of Northern Sweden's landowners' association.

- The forest is like a savings capital that we use to, among other things, expand our farms.

If someone comes and takes the forest without replacing it, it will be a huge problem for many in Gävleborg and throughout the country, says Rickard Klingberg.

Consideration for individual birds

The Swedish Forest Agency's new tougher application of species protection means that forest owners must take greater account of how plant and animal species are affected by forestry.

Among other things, they must show how each individual bird is affected by, for example, felling.

- Caring for blue tits and great tit does not contribute to biological diversity, says Rickard Klingberg.
