“S.V. Lavrov pointed out to his interlocutor the fact that ... Kiev, with the full connivance of Western partners, only imitates the negotiation process and deliberately escalates tension in the region, continuing intensive massive shelling of the territory of the DPR and LPR using large-caliber weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements,” — stated in the message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The parties also exchanged views on the provision of legally binding security guarantees to Russia, as well as the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.

Earlier, the representative of the People's Militia of the Republic, Eduard Basurin, said that the Ukrainian military continued to shell the territory of the self-proclaimed DPR along the entire line of contact.

The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that the situation in the self-proclaimed republic had become critical over the past 24 hours.
