It was a hot debate in Karlshamn's council when the question of whether the municipality would co-finance the marketing of the route to Frankfurt with SEK 250,000 a year in tax money.

31 members of the council voted no while 20 members voted yes.

- For us, this feels great, just the right decision.

We have a lot of outdoor tourism here that we can invest in, including bike paths, outdoor gyms and local companies.

Our assessment is that if you come here to do outdoor, then you stay here longer, says municipal councilor Per-Ola Mattsson (S).

The Moderates, Liberals, Christian Democrats and Center Party voted in favor of the proposal.

- We think it is important for Karlshamn that Kallinge can live and that the transports to Europe are as good as possible, said Magnus Gärdebring group leader for the Moderates during the municipal council.

Trafficked in March

The Center Party had previously chosen to give its support in the Karlshamn opposition's, M, L and KD, proposal to market a flight to Frankfurt.

During the council meeting, SD instead chose to support S and MP's proposal to market outdoor tourism with SEK 250,000 annually for the next three years.

- We want to support business and tourism, said Marco Gustavsson, deputy group leader for C, to SVT Nyheter Blekinge after they broke away from the coalition last year.

The route to Frankfurt will again be operated in March, but not from Ronneby but only from Kalmar, according to P4 Blekinge.

During the council, many people hoped that the route to and from Ronneby would start again this autumn.

But Charlott Lorentzen from the Green Party said that it is a borderline case if the municipality is to market an airline that will not return for sure.

This is what it looked like when the route between Frankfurt and Ronneby was inaugurated in September.

All Blekinge municipalities except Karlshamn are involved and pay.

But now Karlshamn is about to change.
