This summer, Olofströmshus started a chicken collective on Smålandsgatan in Olofström, where the residents have since been helped to take care of both hens and hen houses.

In exchange, they have received several eggs a day.

There have been four households that have been involved and Susanne Lundgren is one of them.

- I think it's fun.

On the one hand you get eggs and on the other hand it is stress-relieving to be among the hens, she says.

Hönsgård among the apartment buildings

After receiving applications for interest in another chicken collective, but this time on Ekerydssplan, the municipality has now granted a building permit, which BLT reported on Monday.

But what is required for Olofströmshus to dare to start construction on the courtyard is for more people to sign up as volunteers for the chicken collective.

- We would have needed at least two more households for it to feel safe.

It is important that it is properly cared for when it comes to animals, says Kristina Olsson, environmental coordinator at Olofströmshus.
