According to the deputy, Russia showed “unprecedented patience” in the expectation that Kiev would solve the problem through the Minsk agreements.

“It would be beneficial for Ukraine to resolve the issue through political and diplomatic tools,” Shkhagoshev stressed.

The parliamentarian added that President Vladimir Putin, in his address, very intelligibly explained why Russia can take responsibility for deciding the fate of the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk in such a difficult period. 

In his opinion, it was a very "adult political decision", which grew out of the realities that have been happening all these years. 

Earlier, Putin signed decrees on Russia's recognition of the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, stressed in an interview with RT that he regards such a decision as "very positive."
