According to her, the Canadian government is preparing to impose economic sanctions "unrelated to those prepared to respond to a further Russian military invasion of Ukraine."

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said that Britain on Tuesday, February 22, will announce new sanctions against Russia in connection with the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on Russia's recognition of the independence of the LNR and the DNR.

During the address, the President stressed that the situation in Donbass has become critical against the backdrop of Kiev's actions.
