An Emirati company develops a drone-launching mechanism

The EDGE Group, the advanced technology group in defense and other fields, unveiled the Scorpio-B, the latest model in its range of ground-operated vehicles, during the first day of UMEX 2022, which is currently being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center until February 23.

Designed to support military and security forces in the most difficult conditions, the Scorpio-B can be equipped with remote-controlled weapons systems, dual 40mm grenade launchers, pan, tilt and zoom cameras, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sensors, with the possibility of mounting various payloads of up to Up to 200 kg max.

In addition to its significant value in all of these operations, the Scorpio-B can be equipped to perform tactical surveillance, counter-terrorism, CBRN contamination detection, communications relay, and any other forms of hazardous missions.

The Scorpio-B can easily reach difficult urban terrain and harsh environments with its tracked propulsion and speed of 40 km/h and the ability to adapt to a road slope of up to 30 degrees.

The integrated command and control station allows one or two operators to control the functions of the ground-based vehicle and mission equipment systems from a distance of up to 5 km.

This is complemented by the mission planning system and the autopilot from ADAISI.

Ali Al Yafei, CEO of ADASI, said: “We are pleased to unveil the latest addition to the Scorpio Group during UMEX 2022, the exhibition dedicated to drones, robotics and unmanned systems, which is one of the most important events on our calendar. We are pleased to continue building the confidence of our customers in us both nationally and internationally. By rigorously researching and developing our autonomous driving capabilities to increase mission readiness and, ultimately, enable a secure future for all.”

The company's in-house R&D capabilities allow ADASI to offer the next generation of unmanned systems capable of performing tasks in a wide variety of operations and in the most challenging environments.

ADASI is part of the Platforms and Systems division of EDGE, the advanced technology group for the defense and other industries, ranked among the world's top 25 military suppliers.
