“This program supports the development of democratic institutions and civil society in Uzbekistan by providing small grants to non-profit, non-governmental organizations and associations, non-profit civil society organizations and independent local media on a competitive basis,” the document states.

The American side, as follows from the description of the grant, will finance those projects that will be aimed at "strengthening the role of women and socially vulnerable communities", as well as "strengthening the independent media" of the republic.

Thus, it is expected that the initiative, among other things, will help women and representatives of marginalized groups of the population of Uzbekistan become “more economically independent”, and local journalists - “more professional”.

The size of one grant can vary from $10,000 to $50,000. The total budget that the United States is ready to allocate for the implementation of the program is not mentioned.

Earlier it was reported about the intention of the United States to allocate funds for the "development of democratic institutions and civil society" in Kazakhstan.
