The announcement that the PP will "satisfactorily" close Isabel Díaz Ayuso's file, after the meeting that the Madrid president held with Pablo Casado on Friday afternoon, has reassured the territorial leaders who mobilized to demand an immediate and forceful solution .

Not surprisingly, that was one of his demands.

"We have to sign peace with Ayuso", they agreed, as this newspaper advanced.

But to those same leaders - grouped around the leadership of Alberto Núñez Feijóo - it does not seem enough to shelve the internal investigations into the possible malpractice of the Madrid baroness.

They ask, like various former ministers of the governments of José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy, "changes" in the national leadership that act as a "containment dam."

And they point, to Feijóo's slipstream, to Teodoro García Egea.

But they are tougher than the Galician leader.

"Either he throws it out or we are going to have to go to a congress, this cannot be falsely closed," says one of the regional presidents of the PP.

Going to an extraordinary congress, as Feijóo warned on Friday, could involve a bloody battle for leadership and further divide the

Popular Party

.

And, above all, open an even bigger butrón on the electoral flank that connects with Vox.

So much so that the formation of Santiago Abascal

bypassed

the PP.

"We are close to that happening," all the leaders consulted warn - with greater or lesser fear, depending on the case.

But the leadership of the party defies these requests and responds to the barons: "Casado trusts García Egea 100% and is going to continue."

This is how the president of the popular team has transmitted

it

to the team closest to him.

In the national leadership they do not contemplate, today, the possibility that the president sacrifices his

number two

to continue in office.

"Pablo and Teo are brothers"

"Pablo and Teo are the same, they are brothers," they point out in the noble zone of Genoa, 13, where they remember that in the Rajoy years there were compromising episodes that affected the general secretariat and that, in the end, heads never rolled.

But this time it is different, in the eyes of the leaders consulted.

"This is not solved by saying that nothing has happened here", highlights a baron -in the PP, the territorial leaders who govern -and only them- are called barons-.

"The general opinion is that if Casado kicks García Egea out, he can have a containment dam," other sources reported.

His dismissal "is what generates the most consensus," adds another regional president.

Be that as it may, the truth is that in this Madrid civil war everyone is looking towards Galicia.

"The key to everything", according to another of the 17 autonomous leaders of the PP, "is Feijóo".

Everything that the president of Galicia says resonates with a special authority in the

popular ones

.

And on Friday Feijóo set the course, pointing to García Egea ("the leadership of a party is not there to amplify a problem, but to solve it") and warned that if it was not cut to the chase, this crisis could lead to a congress extraordinary.

Although in the baronies they don't even want to talk about a congress.

"A congress for what? For Ayuso to show up? Or Feijóo? To compete with Pablo? If Pablo and Teo show up, they win: they control 80% of the party. But this is not how it ends," ditch a baron

"The Merits of Feijóo"

As it is verified, Feijóo has ignited the debate.

"His statements from him are the ones that we all listen to millimetrically: it is like that," another regional president of the PP also acknowledges, this one related to Casado.

"I don't know if there is another leader like him in Europe; in Spain, of course, there is none who has the merits of Feijóo", he adds.

"He has given up comfort, because we need voices that are not in any of the trenches," they explained in the Galician PP.

The territorial presidents of the PP who do not govern complain that the leadership has not even called them by phone to find out about their concerns.

For this reason, many of them want to make Feijóo a kind of spokesperson for their complaints to Casado.

In addition to the dismissal of Egea, the regional presidents demanded this Saturday in this newspaper "to sign peace with Ayuso", something that Casado did take note of.

"We have to take a step forward and throw the party behind us. We want to meet with Casado to see if we have to hold a congress or simply throw out García Egea and sign peace with Ayuso," one of those involved reported in this newspaper.

«"And we want Feijóo to be the one who promotes the meeting", he added.
