There have been plenty of Swedish successes in this edition of the Winter Olympics.

And seen in relation to population, Jämtland County has educated most of this year's Olympic athletes.

Every tenth member of the Olympic team was born in Jämtland County

The Swedish Olympic team for the Olympics in Beijing consists of 116 athletes.

A survey of these shows that most, 20 of the athletes were born in Stockholm County, 12 in Jämtland County and 12 in Västernorrland County.

9.1 Olympians per 100,000 inhabitants

But if you compare the number of Olympians with the population in the different counties, Jämtland County stands out.

Jämtland County has 9.1 Olympians per 100,000 inhabitants.

It is clearly the most densely populated Olympics per capita.

The corresponding figure for Västernorrland is 4.9 and for Stockholm County 0.8.
