The residents of Östra Göinge do not feel safe.

In the police's annual security survey in 2021, the Göingar experienced greater insecurity than the people of Skåne in general - even though there was a marginal improvement between 2020 and 2021.

- We want to set up surveillance cameras in the center, but that puts a stop to the state.

They just think that there should be such in big cities, says Patric Åberg (M), municipal councilor and chairman of the municipal board in Östra Göinge.

He has been told that cameras will be set up at the bus square, but nowhere else.

Many require action

Those who live and work in Broby often stop Patric Åberg on the street and demand measures to increase security.

The recent unrest with shootings outside a store in central Broby, IS symbols at a rental property and a bomb threat to the same address have made many people worried about their own and their children's safety.

Patric Åberg has received a letter from municipal residents who write that they should stop going to Broby to shop.

- You get scared of course and many, especially the elderly, feel insecure, says Joakim Vendel (S), leisure politician in Östra Göinge.

Says no to IS symbols

When IS symbols appeared at a property in central Broby, it became another parameter that made Broby's residents react.

- It's really awful.

We absolutely do not want that in this village, says Frida Svensson.

Last week, the police were on site in Broby due to a traffic case and were then alerted to the IS symbols.

At the scene, they were met by a man who is said to have expressed himself threateningly and aggressively.

The man was arrested and this week he was arrested.

The case is classified as a threat to an official.

Incitement against ethnic group

Östra Göinge municipality reported to the police last Friday the IS symbols that incite against ethnic groups and violations of the municipal ordinances.

This week, the municipality bought the mentioned property for 2.2 million and Patric Åberg continues to court the police and the county administrative board to get more police and more surveillance cameras in Östra Göinge.
