On Friday, the administrative court in Umeå ruled that Sweden's regions' joint airline, KSA, violates its own statutes when operating its own flights.

Originally, the idea was to save money and streamline by all regions joining forces and buying up the service together - which was written into the rules of their own union.

However, it was not followed.

Since each region itself purchased the service from other suppliers who have their own aircraft and personnel, KSA has purchased its own aircraft and hired personnel.

"The union's decision to conduct aviation and air ambulance operations is contrary to the union's rules," the administrative court wrote in its ruling.

Starts operations in new region

Swedish ambulance flights have already started operations in the four northernmost regions since the end of last year.

The start was shaky for the business when the new jet planes proved to be more sensitive than the propeller planes used by previous suppliers.

Now the business also starts at Arlanda despite the ruling in the administrative court.

- When a verdict comes, you read it carefully and analyze it, then you think about what to do.

That is what we are doing now, says Mariann Holmberg, communications manager at KSA.

New rules must be hammered through

At the beginning of February, KSA hammered out a new union order that determines the union's purposes and tasks.

But this must now be passed on to and approved by all regions in Sweden before it enters into force.

- No one has yet said that they do not agree on that.

We will see, says Mariann Holmberg at KSA.
