Saturday offered full activity and there were many who had the roads past the ski tracks in Ånnaboda, which pleased the organizers.

- We do this to show off the nice facility we have here outside Örebro, and to give the public the opportunity to try different variants of skiing.

The interest in this day is much greater than we could have expected and it is very gratifying that there are so many families with children out, says Lasse Lundberg from Örebro ski alliance.

The children's vassal race was the activity that was most popular with over 250 participants - but there were also many who wanted to try biathlon.

An explanation for the great interest in the sport may have to do with the biathlon national team's success at the Olympics in Beijing, where they won four medals.

Plans for a new biathlon stadium

Hans Mandahl, instructor for the day, now hopes that the sport will spread even more out into the country.

He also said that there are currently plans to build a biathlon stadium in the area by Ånnaboda.

- It is a project that very recently started between the associations here in Ånnaboda and Örebro municipality.

The conditions are here, the nearest biathlon stadium is in Mora, so it would have been perfect if we got a stadium here, says Hans Mandahl.
