Al-Azhar’s first response to Ibrahim Issa’s “skepticism” of “Al-Isra and Al-Miraj”

The Egyptian journalist, Ibrahim Issa, sparked a wide state of anger because of his questioning of the miracle of "the ascension of the Prophet" Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, to heaven.

Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa issued a clarification statement regarding what was raised, in which it affirmed that “the miracle of the Night Journey and Mi’raj is one of the frequent miracles of our master, the Messenger of God, which is established by the text of the Noble Qur’an in the two surahs (Al-Isra) and (The Star), and with the hadiths of the purified Prophetic Sunnah in the Sahihs, Sunan, Musnads, books and compilations. The Sunnah, whose evidence was proven and its events took place, the consensus of Muslims of all ages was held, leaving no room for slanderous skepticism or trembling distortion.

And the statement continued: “The miserable attempts to stab the companions of our master, the Messenger of God, and question their justice, in terms that do not befit the standing of the best generation of this nation, is a forbidden crime, a reprehensible and rejected audacity, and a path of abhorrent and deplorable transgression in a nation, no matter how negligent its members may be. Our master is the Messenger of God, nor his companions.”

For its part, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt issued a statement, in which it said that the council’s monitoring committees are in the process of preparing a report on what was raised about the “Isra and Mi’raj” program, presented by the media person Ibrahim Issa, and the statement stressed that this would be a prelude to the show. The council must immediately take legal action in the event of a violation of the media codes issued by the council.

The journalist Ibrahim Issa said that the incident of Al-Israa and Al-Miraj does not include a Mi’raj, commenting: “So what do you think that there is no Mi’raj, will you believe that there is no? History and hadith are what you say, but it is a source for you books and stories that you say happened.”
