The incident happened just after 6 a.m., and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said the 55-year-old driver was driving around a railroad gate onto the tracks and was hit by a speeding train.
It is reported that no one was injured on the train and the driver of the car was seriously injured.
"We call on the public to obey warning signs around all rail tracks and are aware that these actions endanger not only drivers, but our passengers and crew," the rail operating company said in a statement.
