The President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Mogai Kenyatta, affirmed that his country is keen to exploit all the opportunities offered by "Expo 2020 Dubai" in order to build new relations, in addition to encouraging tourists to visit Kenya and enjoy its attractive destinations.

This came on the sidelines of Kenya's National Day celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai, which kicked off in Al Wasl Square with the official flag-raising ceremonies and the playing of the national anthems of the UAE and Kenya.

The celebrations witnessed the presentation of a group of dance performances, embodying the rhythms and vivid arts of Kenya, which will continue over a week full of events that highlight the culture of the world-renowned flower country.

Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Commissioner-General of Expo 2020 Dubai, was at the forefront of the future of the Kenyan President and his accompanying delegation.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said, "Kenya, through its participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, gives us insight into its economic potential, and this is evident through its main sectors, which include agriculture, innovation and tourism.

It also reviews its future plans, the innovations and achievements of its diligent people.

He added: "The relations between the UAE and Kenya have grown since their inception in the early eighties, and have developed significantly in recent times.

Through this edition of (Expo), we express our keenness to explore new frameworks for cooperation and exchange experiences in many priority areas for our two countries.”

While Uhuru Mogai Kenyatta said, "Kenya is very keen to strengthen the ties that it brings with the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and with all participants in (Expo 2020 Dubai), as we seek to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the international exhibition to build new business relationships and attract investments, In addition to encouraging tourists to visit Kenya, and enjoy the attractive tourist destinations it offers them.”

He added, "We will continue to extend the bonds of love that Kenya, the government and people, have for the UAE, and we will commit to continuing our relations with the UAE and the countries of the Arab Gulf region, to enable our two regions to continue growth and prosperity."

He welcomed all those who participate in his country's celebration of its National Day, noting that Kenya will showcase during the week the diversity of its culture through singing, dancing, food and traditional costumes.

The Kenya National Troupe presented its dance performances, which took the audience on an audio-visual journey across the country from the communities of eastern Kenya to the west, through a distinguished group of performances.

As part of the celebration of Kenya's National Day, Al Wasl platform hosted a live performance of traditional music and dance, presented by Ngoma Za Kenya, one of the most famous national bands in the country.

The Kenya Pavilion is located in the Opportunities area, and bears the slogan “A depiction of Kenya’s warm energy, hospitality and heritage,” and invites visitors to embark on a journey that accompanies them from agricultural and economic potentials, through the sectors of industry and innovation, to the hospitality and creativity that are unique to the Kenyan people.

Kenya participated in a remarkable initiative from its land during the Valentine's Day celebrations, as it distributed more than a quarter of a million roses to the international fair's visitors and employees.

National and Honorary Days at Expo 2020 Dubai represent important times to celebrate all the more than 200 international participants, by highlighting their cultures and achievements, and displaying prominent features of their pavilions and programmes.
