“The total amount of emissions into the atmosphere there is 1.8 million tons per year (11% of emissions in Russia), or 30 thousand cars.

These are only the inventoryed items.

But, in our opinion, the inventory and calculation methods are not entirely correct, ”Radionova said in an interview with RBC.

According to her, in second place is the city of Cherepovets in the Vologda region.

There, the volume of emissions into the atmosphere is 280 thousand tons, which is 1.7% of all emissions in Russia.

In third place is Novokuznetsk in the Kemerovo region - 278 thousand tons (1.6%).

In December, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko announced that the experiment on quotas for harmful emissions into the atmosphere would be expanded to all Russian cities with polluted air from September 1, 2022.

She noted that the list of cities will be formed on the basis of the methodology approved by the order of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
