Events A 22-year-old man was arrested for the death of a 14-year-old girl in Alcalá la Real, who appeared naked in the ruins of a church
"I've killed a girl I know."
Nazzaryn NN, 22
, called Emergencies 112 around 9:30 p.m. this past Tuesday to confess to the crime she had just committed in Alcalá la Real (Jaén).
When the Civil Guard appeared at the place that the murderer himself pointed out to them, Nazzaryn was near the tourist access gate of the Fortaleza de la Mota, a 13th-century castle.
An hour later, police officers found
the body of 14-year-old Khawla EZ,
naked and showing signs of having been strangled.
She was about 150 meters from there, among trees,
next to a ruined church.
After his arrest, the confessed murderer
stopped collaborating
with the Civil Guard.
He did not give any further details of the events.
Nazzaryn NN, who
has no police or criminal record for gender violence
, was born in the Dominican Republic.
He arrived in Alcalá la Real with his mother, a lawyer, at a very young age.
The autopsy on the victim's body was carried out on Wednesday morning.
No details of the teenager's cause of death have been released.
The sources consulted suggest that the aggressor had a sexual motivation.
In a message on Twitter, the Alcalá City Council condemned "what everything points to as
a case of sexist violence."
The Court of Instruction number 2 of Alcalá la Real, on which the case fell, decreed the secrecy of the proceedings.
The body of the minor will be repatriated to Morocco
, the country of origin of her parents and where her father resides.
The detainee will go to court between this Thursday and Friday.
People close to him describe him as
an introverted and unsociable young man.
He is a fan of the Rubik's cube game, a passion that led him to participate in several championships.
Khawla EZ was studying the third year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) at the Alfonso XI institute in Alcalá la Real.
Last Tuesday, around half past five in the afternoon, she told her mother,
Fatima
, that she was leaving home to go
do her homework
at a classmate's house.
She agreed with her mother that she would return
at 8:00 p.m.
After that hour, the mother of Jaula -as she was known in Alcalá, where her name was Spanishized-, contacted several mothers and companions of her daughter to try to find out her whereabouts.
It was then that she learned that Khawla had not been to that other girl's home.
Around 11 pm she spoke with the Civil Guard.
At that time the body of her daughter had already been found, although
they were not informed of it until later.
The woman told the agents that Khawla had disappeared,
provided a photo and made a physical description of the minor.
At dawn, the Civil Guard told her that the body she had found was that of her daughter.
Khawla's lifeless body was found inside the fenced perimeter of Mota Fortress.
Sources familiar with the investigation explain to EL MUNDO that
she and the murderer would have jumped together and voluntarily
the first fence that surrounds the castle.
The victim's mother told investigators that
she had no evidence
that her daughter and the alleged murderer had an emotional relationship.
It is being investigated whether they both stayed to see each other that same afternoon or if they met by chance.
Everything indicates, the sources add, that the murderer and his victim already knew each other on previous occasions.
Nazzaryn NN himself transferred him to 112 when he warned of what had happened.
"The town is totally shaken, devastated by this event," said the mayor, Marino Aguilera, in statements to EL MUNDO.
The town decreed three days of official mourning.
This Wednesday a minute of silence was held in Alcalá la Real and a demonstration in different streets of the town of Jaén.
In it cries were heard calling for "justice" in Khawla's death.
"A horror. Your heart freezes with such a frightening event," said the president of the Andalusian Government, Juanma Moreno.
The head of the Spanish Executive, Pedro Sánchez, referred to this crime during a debate in Congress with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal.
"A young man has been arrested for murdering a 14-year-old girl. Talking about a gender perspective when we are talking about education
is essential so as not to frivolize the gender-based violence suffered by many boys and girls
."
Three women
have died at the hands of their partners or ex-partners so far this year, and
1,129 since 2003
, when the number of fatal victims of gender violence began.
Since then, 14 minors have been killed by sexist violence.
The last of them, Claudia Abigail Siguencia, a 17-year-old girl from Totana (Murcia)
.
If it is confirmed that Khawla is yet another case, it would be the second in 2022.
