It is the Beijer Foundation's teacher award in memory of Ingvar Lindqvist that Kajsa Bro will receive.

It is considered one of the most prestigious teacher awards because it is awarded by members of the Royal Academy of Sciences.

The same members who also make decisions about who will receive the Nobel Prize in physics and chemistry.

The award is given to teachers in physics, chemistry, biology and NO.

Kajsa Bro, who teaches at the Knowledge Center in Markaryd, receives the award in biology and was called last week by the Royal Academy of Sciences' permanent secretary.

- I became speechless, but of course I am also very honored and happy, says Kajsa Bro about how she reacted when she received the message.

Puts biology in context

Kajsa Bro has been nominated by principals at the school and then moved on in the selection process.

When she receives the prize in June, she will go to Stockholm for the award ceremony in City Hall, followed by dinner in the Blue Hall.

According to the jury's motivation, Kajsa Bro receives the award for bringing examples from everyday life and putting biology in context.

But also because she engages the students.

- I think it is important to show that you believe that students can do things, because when you feel that you are competent, you also think it's fun.

When someone believes that you know something, then you also know a lot and then it also becomes fun to learn and something happens there, says Kajsa Bro.
