A 47-year-old man was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence by the Troyes court (Aube) for sexual assault on Wednesday.

He was accused of having imposed a sexual relationship on an 89-year-old woman at the latter's home in Saint-André-les-Vergers (Aube) on June 5, 2019, reports

Several versions of the story

During the investigation, the respondent, unknown to justice, gave several versions of the facts.

At the hearing, he finally assured that it was a consensual relationship, highlighting the fact that the octogenarian had not pushed him away.

His attorney ruled that age was not evidence of non-consent.

The victim, who knew the man because he had delivered meals to her, had told her home helper that she "did not want to do this".

In a deposition, however, she considered herself “also at fault”.

The old lady has since had “suicidal inclinations,” said her lawyer.
